Tuzantla is a word of Nahuatl origin and translates as "where gophers are abundant."
It is located east of the state, in the coordinates 19 º 12 'north latitude and 100 º 34' west longitude at an altitude of 580 meters above sea level. Bordered on the north Jungapeo and Hidalgo to the east and Susupuato Juarez, south of the State of Mexico and Tiquicheo. Its distance to the state capital is 215 kms
