Xochimilco is characterized by the existence of channels giving a very special dye around the Valley of Anahuac. This site, the topography and flow of a series of springs at the edge of the mountains, has allowed to present an attractive place with its canals, the chinampas, with its flowers, with its ornate trajineras, inviting visiting sites most picturesque in the Federal District.

The flora and fauna of Xochimilco is plentiful and varied. The vegetation is formed mainly by ahuejotes, typical trees of the region, planted in the margins of the chinampas.
