San Marcos is a Mexican population of the state of Guerrero, located on highway 200, 59 miles southeast of Acapulco on the coast of the state's coast. Part of the Costa Chica region of Guerrero and is head of the homonymous municipality.San Marcos Crafts has good craftsmanship based on the clay, the best known in the development of the jars better known as jugs, this activity is so ingrained that the municipality has a colony of that name, the famous Barrio Jar. Some historians say the name of this town was originally La Estancia, and thereafter, Franciscan missionaries brought with them the image of St. Mark, evangelist because of this, the population adopts this name for the municipality and its head.
