The town is the majestic Sierra de Arteaga, which is considered the Switzerland of Mexico for its beautiful wooded landscapes and snow-capped in winter. It also has the only ski resort in the country, called Monterreal, with two plastic tracks in summer and covered by snow in winter.
Arteaga city is named in honor of José María Arteaga Querétaro liberal hero who ruled and was shot by the French army in 1865. The apple crop is the main activity of the population, this produces 80 percent of the apples grown in the state.
The town is located only 17 kilometers from Saltillo, but because of its proximity the mountains that form part of the Sierra Madre Oriental and is known as Sierra de Arteaga, you seek a pleasant climate in the state and an abundant flora, as in fewparts of the state (dominated by desert areas). Getting there
The mountain is located in the southeastern part of the state of Coahuila. In the Sierra de Arteaga be reached by U.S. Highway 57, from Saltillo, the state capital, just to travel 17 kilometers in a time of 25 minutes or so.
