Located at an altitude of 2,010 m on the northeast slope of the Sierra Madre Oriental, on the Left Bank Laxaxalpa. It borders the municipalities of Chignahuapan, Aquixtla, Tetela de Ocampo, Cuautempan, Tepetzintla, Ahuacatlán, Chiconcuautla, Ahuazotepec and Huauchinango. Zacatlán is located 131 kilometers from the city of Puebla. Its location allows it to be an important access between the state capital and the municipalities located in the Sierra Norte and as a link with the states of Tlaxcala and Hidalgo.
