The archaeological site of Paquimé is located approximately 350 km northwest of the city of Chihuahua, in Chihuahua, Mexico and half a kilometer from the town of Casas Grandes.

This archaeological site was named a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 1998.

It was a pre-Hispanic settlement in the northwest influencing the Sierra Madre Occidental, the majority of western Chihuahua and some areas of the states of Sonora, Arizona, Utah, Colorado and New Mexico.
