The original name was Istacostoc Larrainzar, which in Nahuatl means "White Cave".
Located in the Central Highlands, predominantly mountainous terrain, its geographical coordinates are 16 ° 53 'N and 92 ° 44 W, at an altitude of 2.200 m.
San Andres Larrainzar is a municipality in the State of Chiapas, Mexico, locatedwithin the region known as Los Altos. Its inhabitants are ethnic cultural and linguistictsotsil which, in turn, is part of the Mayan Culture.
