Melaque is a coastal town located at the other end of the famous Bahia Barra de Navidad face. It is surrounded by large rocks and golden beaches. San Patricio Melaque and Villa Obregon are the two nearby villages gather in front of the beach on the Alvaro Obregon street and the community are referred to in this website asMelaque. The people of San Patricio Melaque is located west of the Alvaro Obregonstreet and has been a vacation spot for generations of Mexicans and, more recently, byCanadians. San Patricio Melaque is the larger of the two peoples and which contains thetown square and most retail stores. Villa Obregon is located east of the street Alvaro Obregon and is more residential in character. The two villages are the largest coastal community between Puerto Vallarta and Manzanillo

Se encuentra aproximadamente a 201 km al suroeste de Guadalajara. Según el II Conteo de Población y Vivienda de 2005, el municipio tenía 30,241 habitantes.2 Su nombre se interpreta como "Lugar Donde Abundan las Mujeres". Su extensión territorial es de 713.70 km² y la población se dedica principalmente al sector terciario.3 Cihuatlán está ubicado al suroeste del estado, entre las coordenadas 19°08’50" a los 19°22’30" de latitud norte y de los 104°04’00" a los 104°42’30" de longitud oeste; a una altura de 13 metros sobre el nivel del mar. El municipio colinda al norte con los municipios de La Huerta y Cuautitlán de García Barragán; al este con el municipio de Cuautitlán de García Barragán y el estado de Colima; al sur con el estado de Colima y el Océano Pacífico y el municipio de La Huerta.
