Queretaro is one of the states with the Federal District make up the 32 states of Mexico. Located in central Mexico, a region known as "El Bajio". Its capital is the city of Santiago de Querétaro (located about 200 km northwest of Mexico City), yet it'swidespread use of Querétaro to name both the state and the capital city.

Querétaro bounded on the north with the State of San Luis Potosi, Guanajuato to thewest, the east by Hidalgo, Mexico and southeast to southwest with Michoacan.
