Heroic City of Tlaxiaco is a municipality and city in the Mexican state of Oaxaca.Located in the northwest of the state, and belongs to the Mixteca Alta of Oaxaca.The town takes its name from the county seat, which was called thanks to aheroic battle in which Mexican and French fought during the Second French Intervention.

Tlaxiaco in Nahuatl Tlachquiauhco; tlach-co-quiauh: tlachtli (ball game); Quiahuitl(rain), CO, "in (place of) the rain of the ball game." But also, like most of the cities Mixtec Mixtec has a name: nuu Ndisi which translates as "good view".
