Celaya is located southeast of the state of Guanajuato, 50 km west of the city of Santiago de Queretaro, and 260 km from Mexico City. Studies of the Second Census of Population and Housing 2005, conducted by the National Institute of Statistics and Census Bureau, the city of Celaya belongs to the newly formed Metropolitan Area consists of the municipalities Bajio de Cortázar, Celaya, Villagrán, Comonfort Apaseo Alto, Apaseo the Great, Salvatierra Tarimoro and counting in its entirety with 830,216 inhabitants, of which the city of Celaya contributes to 415,413

Also, this breakthrough, which currently makes the city of Celaya to offer most of its inhabitants utilities (electricity, water, sewer) to reach coverage rates above 90%.

As expected, the progress that has occurred in this county is based on its strong economic activities, which is worth noting that agriculture is the basis of the local economy being the maize, sorghum, alfalfa, oats, beans, garlic, onion, peanut, tomato and vegetables the main crop and strong export orientation. On the other hand, industry is very important to have establishments producing caramel and dairy, meats and packing vegetables, packaging and water purification and pasteurization of milk, manufacturing of deodorants, flavors, insecticides, food animals, furniture and appliances, and construction of agricultural implements and machinery, among many others. The companies are located mainly on the roads Celaya-Salamanca, Celaya-Queretaro, Celaya-San Miguel de Allende, which is the most important settlement for the location of the industrial city
