Uxmal is an ancient Mayan city of the Classical period. Today is one of the mostimportant archaeological sites of Mayan culture, along with those of Chichen Itza andTikal. It is located in the area called the city Puuc and most representative of this architectural style.


Uxmal was an important center of commerce of obsidian and basalt, its locationmade it the meeting point between the Mayan cities of the east and west, that wealthand political power are evident in the monumental structures that are located in the area.
