the town of Tepechitlán is located in the Municipality of Tepechitlán (in the state of Zacatecas). It has 4470 inhabitants. Tepechitlán is at 1710 meters altitude.
In the sixteenth century, Tepechitlán, Nahuatl language means, plenty of Tepezil,which means "Peñascal or Place of Rocks."
Tepechitlán Township is located in the southwestern part of the state of Zacatecas, among the mountains that emerge from the Sierra Madre Occidental, which are: TheSierra de Morones, east and west Atolinga Mountains, part of what called regional Tlaltenango Canyon.
