The word comes from the Nahuatl Tamazula "Tamazullan" equivalent to "Toads Lagoon ."
The municipality of Tamazula is located in the westernmost part of the state ofDurango, at coordinates 106 º 58'30 "north latitude and 24 º 56'10" west longitude.Its northern border state of Chihuahua, on the south and west with Sinaloa, on the east by the municipalities of San Dimas, Otaez, Santiago Papasquiaro, cinnamon,and Tepehuanes Topia, its county seat is located at a height of 240 meters the sea level.
