It is known that Santa Ana was one of the villas owned by the Marquis del Valle,Santa Ana in honor of the mother of the Virgin Mary. According to ManuelMartinez Gracida scholar, the people have a name in Zapotec, Guia de Guiche, which means "stone metate."
Located in the Central Valley Region, 39 kilometers from Oaxaca City, belongs to District Tlacolula. It is located at coordinates 17 º 00 'north latitude and 96 º 28' west longitude at an altitude of 1,660 meters above sea level.
Its climate is colder than temperate, but in the months of April and March is warm. Its prevailing wind is coming from the east.


The hospitable and friendly reputation of its inhabitants attracts visitors who are delighted to know their customs, traditions and daily lifestyle.

Here, as in Teotitlan del Valle, history is woven into their beautiful wool rugsdyed with natural dyes such as cochineal, in vivid colors and designs ranging from pre-Hispanic motifs to reproductions of famous painters.

This village has basic services such as medical service, convenience stores, bakeries, butcher shops, craft market, and so on. Tourist Yú'ù administratorsorganize tours to the center of the population, the prey and the Rancho (in abouttwo hours the first and the last six hours, respectively). We suggest you visit the community museum which is located in the center of town.
