Arteaga is a town in the Mexican state of Coahuila, is part of the metropolitan area of Saltillo and is head of the homonymous municipality. It has 6.394 inhabitants, agricultural area, fruit apple, has a beautiful landscape of the Sierra Madre Oriental, and its climate is very similar to Saltillo. The township is very wide and covers a lot of wooded mountains, where temperatures reach -15 ° C.
The town is the majestic Sierra de Arteaga, which is considered the Switzerland of Mexico for its beautiful wooded landscapes and snow-capped in winter. It also has the only ski resort in the country, called Monterreal, with two plastic tracks in summer and covered by snow in winter.
Arteaga city is named in honor of José María Arteaga Querétaro liberal hero who ruled and was shot by the French army in 1865. The apple crop is the main activity of the population, this produces 80 percent of the apples grown in the state.

Getting there
The mountain is located in the southeastern part of the state of Coahuila. In the Sierra de Arteaga be reached by U.S. Highway 57, from Saltillo, the state capital, just to travel 17 kilometers in a time of 25 minutes or so.
