Oaxtepec is a village in the municipality of Yautepec in the state of Morelos, Mexico.The name comes from a Nahuatl word "huax-Tepec"" a Huaxin" gourd (leguminous tree of the acacia family), "tepetl" hill and "C" instead. The interpretation of all this, it has generally been accepted as "Place of the Guajes" or "Hill of the gourds. " Thechroniclers cited his name as Guaztepeque.
This interpretation linguistics consists in the design of pre-Cortesian origin of the symbol used to refer to the population of Oaxtepec, which appears in the CodexMendoza.
Its main industry is tourism services and agriculture.
Its population is 78.000 habitants.
