Zapotlanejo, is a town and municipality in the central region of the state of Jalisco, Mexico. Its name means place of sapodilla. According to the second Census of Population and Housing, the municipality has 55,827 inhabitants. Its territorial extension of 643.02 km2. The population is mainly engaged in the service sector. The town is known for its architecture and sculpture.
Zapotlanejo is located east of the state of Jalisco, at coordinates 20 ° 27'32 "20 º47'40" north latitude and 102 ° 52'20 "to 103 º 17'05" W, at an altitude of 1.522 metersover sea level
