Tepatitlán de Morelos, Jalisco

Tepatitlán etymologically means "Place of Hard Rock" as Nahuatl place names, although some historians also assigned the "Sacred Place Knife. "


Tepatitlán of Morelos is a town founded in 1883 in the
central Mexican state of Jalisco. Is in the area known as The
Altos de Jalisco (Highlands of Jalisco), about 70 km east of the state
Guadalajara capital. With a population of 94,952 which is the state
eighth largest community and serves as a major city outside the
capital. Their municipality, of the same name, had a surface
1,532.78 km ² (591.81 square miles) and a population of 136,703 for 2009

significantly since early 2007 with the creation of new
municipality of Guadalupe Chapel eastern Tepatitlán
of Morelos.
