is a Natural Protected Area category Biosphere Reserve, recognized asWorld Heritage by UNESCO, as a result is neither intended to be a holiday resort oramusement park that accommodates the mass tourism.
Biosphere Reserve El Cielo, is located in the southeastern region of Tamaulipas,located in the Sierra Madre Oriental, occupying part of the municipality of GomezFarias, Jaumave, Llera and Ocampo, with an area of 144.530 hectares. With twocore areas and buffer.
Located 110 km. south of Ciudad Victoria, reported by the Federal Highway 85 whichconnects with the state road to Gómez Farías.There are 4 routes of ascent Its importance lies mainly in the area where biodiversityis protected and the types of vegetation found there. It was discovered in the mid-twentieth century. Currently and since 1987, is accepted into the "World Networkof Biosphere Reserves."
