The city of Oaxaca is located in the south of Mexico

The city of Oaxaca is located in the south of Mexico right in the middle of an area surrounded by four valleys, which, in turn, are protected by three major mountain ranges, which favors its temperate climate that averages a annual temperature of 18 º C.

In this city, capital of the state of the same name, you can admire the beautiful architecture of the buildings that adorn the historic center, declared World Heritage by UNESCO: the Cathedral, the Temple and former Convent of Santo Domingo de Guzman and Basilica de la Soledad, and the Teatro Macedonio Alcalá, among other great nineteenth-century colonial buildings. At the gates surrounding the main square, where you will find numerous shops around town, and in its traditional markets, such as "Benito Juárez" or "November 20" will find all sorts of crafts from different regions that make up the state of Oaxaca, including the colorful "alebrijes", swords, textiles, wool and the beautiful work of black mud. In these places full of tradition can also taste the delicious dishes that identify traditional cuisine: the "tamales", the "moles", the "cheese" and the famous mezcal, the typical drink of the region, which is made of maguey plant.

On the outskirts of the city you can visit the archaeological sites of Monte Alban and Mitla, the ancient capital of pre-Hispanic Zapotec and Mixtec cultures, the town of Santa Maria del Tule, where you can admire the spectacular figure of the famous Tule Tree "and the magnificent natural scenery of the Park "Benito Juárez" and the spectacular waterfalls of Boil Water stone, all located a few kilometers from the old Antequera (Oaxaca), one of the most charming cities in Mexico.
